In the 4th round of the Bundesliga on September 22 at 21:30 GMT, Leverkusen hosted Wolfsburg and staged a thrilling goal battle. In the end, Leverkusen achieved a hard-earned victory with a thrilling 4-3 reversal of Wolfsburg at home.

At the start of the match, Wolfsburg came back and took advantage of a defensive error by Leverkusen defender Mujele, scoring an own goal in the 5th minute to put Leverkusen 0-1 down. However, Leverkusen were not discouraged, and they equalized in the 14th minute with an assist from Zacha to bring the game back to an even keel.

The match then entered a white-hot stage. In the 32nd minute, Jonatan Towers met a teammate's cross at the back post and scored a header to help Leverkusen overtake the lead to 2-1. However, Wolfsburg did not give up, and they equalized with a header by Bornau in the 37th minute as well, and the two sides were back to the same starting line again.

In stoppage time of the half, Wolfsburg's Swanberg scored another goal to help his team take a 3-2 lead into the break. It was certainly a huge blow for Leverkusen, but they didn't give up.

Leverkusen stepped up their attack at the start of the second half and finally equalized the score at 3-3 in the 49th minute with a header from substitute Incapierre. The goal gave Leverkusen hope for a comeback and ignited the passion of the home fans.

However, the game did not end there. In the 88th minute, Wolfsburg's Yannick Gerhardt was shown a red card for a malicious foul, which forced them to play with fewer players for the rest of the match. This turn of events certainly provided Leverkusen with more opportunities.

Finally, in the third minute of injury time, Leverkusen's Boniface stepped up to the plate and relied on his individual ability to complete a brilliant turn and sweep the ball through the goal to help his team shut out Wolfsburg 4-3.
