In the 4th round of the German top league, Augsburg hosted the visiting Mainz. Both players showed a very high level of competitiveness, and the scores on the field also increased alternately. In the end, Mainz narrowly won 3-2 against Augsburg and took all three points.

At the beginning of the match, Mainz showed a strong desire to attack. In the 13th minute, Mainz's Schieb broke the deadlock with a precise shot, giving the visitors the lead. Mainz's offense then intensified, and in the 15th minute, Mwene sent a fine assist to the front field, and Burkhardt understood it and extended the score to 2-0 with a cool shot.

Faced with a two-goal deficit, Augsburg didn't give up their efforts to catch up with the score. In the 25th minute, Herve Leu sent in a precise cross from the side and Kevin Schlotterbeck was able to grab a goal in the penalty area to make the score 1-2. This goal gave hope to the home fans and added suspense to the rest of the game.

However, Mainz did not slow down their offense. In the 35th minute, Amiri was sent off for accumulating two yellow cards, which left Mainz with one less player on the field. But even so, they still maintained the high efficiency of their offense. In the 49th minute of the second half, Hong Hyun-seok sent a precise cross from the left side, and Burkhardt scored twice with a header, making the score 3-1.

Despite the deficit, Augsburg did not give up. In the 57th minute, Giannoulis sent an assist from the wing and Essende calmly fired a shot from inside the box to reduce the score to 2-3. However, just as Augsburg were trying to ride on the victory, Essende was sent off for an unconscionable foul and received a red card, which put Augsburg at a numerical disadvantage once again.

In the end, despite Augsburg's all-out attack in the remaining time of the game, they were never able to change the score again. With the referee's whistle, the match ended with Mainz defeating Augsburg by a score of 3-2.
