Arsenal have yet to show any willingness to extend midfielder Thomas Partey's contract, which could lead to him leaving the side as a free agent next summer, according to a new report from the Mirror. Thomas Partey, who is currently earning over £200,000 a week, is entering the final six months of his contract and is due to expire in June next year. Under the rules, he will have the right to freely discuss a move with a foreign club in January next year.
Arsenal have so far not shown a positive attitude towards Thomas Partey's contract extension, meanwhile, another midfielder, Jorginho's contract is set to expire next June. This means that Arsenal are at risk of potentially losing two key midfielders before the start of the 2025-26 season.
Thomas Partey has been one of the team's highest-paid players since joining Arsenal in 2020, but Arsenal are skeptical about continuing to offer him a high-paying contract due to his chronic injury-plagued struggles to maintain a consistent playing rate.
However, although Thomas Partey has been seen as a potential transfer target in recent transfer windows, he himself has never actively pushed for a move away from the club. Now, his impressive performances in the midfield position will undoubtedly prompt Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu to reconsider his future.
