In a recent interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, free agent Mirante shared some of his thoughts on Napoli, Milan and his career. A veteran of the soccer world, Mirante's insights are full of love and deep understanding of the game.
Talking about Napoli's manager Conte, Mirante spoke highly of him: "Conte is a man full of dreams, his past experiences and everything he stands for make people feel his passion and persistence. What he has done for Napoli, both in terms of tactical set-up and the building of the team's spiritual dimension, is very exciting. His leadership and desire to win has certainly given the team a strong boost."
When asked about his relationship with former Roma boss Fonseca and Milan, Mirante said: "I had a great experience with Fonseca at Roma, he is a well-prepared and intelligent coach with a unique insight into soccer. As for Milan, the derby always inspires extra motivation in the team. Although the league is still long and there are a lot of matches, Milan's squad is clearly built to win the Serie A title. I believe they have the strength to challenge every opponent."
Talking about his connection with Napoli, Mirante couldn't hide his regret: "I'm from Castellammare di Stabia and I've been an avid soccer fan since I was a kid. Juve di Stabia is my home team, but Napoli also has a special place in my heart and can be considered my second home team. I did have contact with Napoli in the past, but unfortunately it didn't work out in the end. Of course, I'm not dissatisfied with my career, because soccer has given me so many wonderful moments. But if I could go back a month and choose again, I would probably choose to join Napoli because it would be my chance to realize my childhood dream. (laughs)"
