How is the CBA Finals MVP awarded?
How the CBA Finals MVP is chosen
The process of generating the CBA Finals MVP is as follows:
Basic conditions:
The player's team must be the championship team. Only players on championship teams are eligible for the Finals MVP.
The Finals MVP must have played at least 85% of the Finals games (rounded up). For example, if there are 5 games played in the Finals, a player must play in at least 4 games to be eligible.
Basis of Selection:
Judging is based on a player's performance quality value or play rating. There may be some variations in the exact formula from season to season. The formula for calculating the quality of performance used in the early seasons is: spr = points - 2-point shots - 0.8 x 3-point shots - 0.3 x free throws + 0.3 x offensive rebounds + 0.2 x defensive rebounds + 0.5 x assists + 1.5 x steals + 0.7 x caps - 1.2 x turnovers. The formula for calculating the play evaluation value used later was: play evaluation value = points + 0.4 x (2-point shots + 3-point shots) - 0.7 x (2-point shots + 3-point shots) - 0.4 x (free throws made - free throws attempts) + 0.7 x offensive rebounds + 0.3 x defensive rebounds + 0.7 x assists + steals + 0.7 x caps -Turnovers - 0.4 x Fouls.
Identification of candidates:
Among the players who fulfill the above conditions, the performance quality value or play rating value is calculated for each player. After the last game of the Finals, the player on the championship team who scores the first place in this numerical index will be awarded the Finals MVP.
In the event that the field average performance quality value or play evaluation value is the same or the difference is within the specified range (e.g., within 0.5, excluding 0.5), the total score of all the matches in the Finals will be used as the main reference value, and the player who scores more points will be elected as the MVP of the Finals.
