According to a new report from Italian outlet RAI Sport, Nigeria international Osmeen could leave Napoli permanently by ending his loan spell in January and triggering a €90 million release clause.

Earlier this month, Osmeen joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan. During the summer window, he had talks with the likes of Jeddah National, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but failed to reach an agreement. In the end, he extended his contract until June 2027 before leaving Napoli, while the release clause was reduced from the original €130 million to €75 million.

However, RAI Sport reporter Venerato revealed a surprising detail: although the release fee is reduced, there is another clause in the contract that allows Osmeen to leave Napoli for 90 million euros next January. However, this clause does not apply to Serie A clubs, meaning that if Osmeen wants to leave in the January transfer window, he will have to join a non-Serie A side.

Juventus and Osmeen have been heavily linked with transfer rumors recently, but Galatasaray's vice-president has insisted that the 25-year-old will not be leaving the club in the winter transfer window. Osmeen showed his prowess as Serie A's top scorer for the 2022-23 season when he scored twice in Galatasaray's 3-3 draw with Kasparza on Saturday. In 133 games for Napoli, he has scored 76 goals and contributed 18 assists.

Osmeen's outstanding performance has undoubtedly attracted the attention of many European giants. Although Galatasaray's vice-president has ruled out his January departure, the world of soccer is a fickle place and there are still variables that could change in the future. For Napoli, they will need to keep a close eye on Osmeen during the winter transfer window in case he eventually triggers his release clause and leaves the club. For other clubs interested in bringing in Osmeen, they will also need to keep a close eye on the situation so that they can take action at the right time.
