He expressed his anticipation for the game and emphasized the importance of this Champions League match for both fans and players.
I'm sure the atmosphere will be fantastic," said Watkins. It's the first Champions League game at Villa Park for so many years and it means a lot to the fans and of course to us players. It will be a great opportunity to go and show what we can do on the biggest stage."
He recalled the great nights at Villa Park last season and is confident that the fans will make this game special: "We had a lot of great nights at Villa Park last season and the atmosphere was great. I'm sure the fans will make this game special because it's the first Champions League game in a long time."
Watkins also spoke about the team and his own form, "I've been through highs and lows at this club and it's great that the team and I are in good shape now. The Champions League is the biggest stage so you're playing against the biggest teams and you want to come up against teams like that and we're all looking forward to it."
