After Manchester City's 1-1 draw away to Newcastle in the 6th round of Premier League matches, City manager Pep Guardiola spoke in his post-match conference about his thoughts on Gündoğan and how his team is coping with Rodney's absence and the injury problems they are currently facing.

On Gündogan's form since his return, Guardiola said, "We haven't seen the best of him and it takes time. He didn't play in pre-season, so it will take a while to get back in shape. Nevertheless, he gave us something special, but of course he needs more time to be at his best."

Speaking about how to deal with Rodri's absence, Guardiola admitted: "I know you'll keep asking me about it, but he's not here right now. Kovacic, XI B and Rico Lewis have done well in recent games, but I have to find a better solution. I certainly hope that Rodri will return soon, I have seen my team and know their characteristics perfectly."

On the injury problems the team is currently facing, Guardiola said, "We have been dealing with this situation for the last seven or eight years. In fact, this is my ninth season here and the situation hasn't changed. This season, we have a particularly long list of injuries, especially with Oscar Bob and Rodri injured for long periods of time, which is completely different from the past. However, the schedule is as tight as ever, which is a huge challenge for us."
