With Manchester United manager Jurgen Ten Hagar facing a managerial crisis, there are reports that United could make assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy the new manager. However, former Arsenal captain Martin Keown is not optimistic about this possibility.
Keown said in an interview, "Ten Hag looked very lonely on the sidelines, was Fanny waiting to take over? Is everyone contributing to the team? But I don't see Fanny doing that. Ten Hagar is sitting there and no one seems to want to communicate with him, which is different from Guardiola, who always communicates positively with his assistants."
He further noted, "Looking at the field, the players didn't seem to be fully committed to the game and the staff didn't show any particular commitment. The fact that Ten Hagar was the only one left in the coaching box was a cause for concern. We don't need the occasional meeting in the locker room to try to figure out what went wrong and what didn't go well. I didn't see any real confidence from the coaching staff in what they were trying to accomplish and how they were playing."
Keown's comments reflect the current predicament facing Manchester United. Temhag's marquee crisis has not only affected the team's overall morale, but also made fans and media question the future of United. Fanny, as an assistant coach, has rich soccer experience and coaching potential, but in the current situation, whether he can lead United out of the predicament is still an unknown.
For Manchester United, the most important thing now is to find the root cause of the problems and take effective measures to solve them. Whether we continue to trust Ten Hag, or choose to let Fanny or other coaches take over, all need to be well thought out and fully evaluated. Only in this way can Manchester United rediscover their former glory and become a truly strong team.
