Early Experience:
High School: Harden attended Artesia High School in Lakewood, California. During his high school career, he played in a total of 78 varsity games, scoring 1,330 points, hitting 112 three-pointers, having 584 rebounds and 273 assists, and giving up 184 steals and 96 caps on the defensive end. He led the varsity team to back-to-back California State Championships in his junior and senior seasons and was a McDonald's All-American as a senior, while earning second-team parade all-american Best of the Best honors. on December 27, 2021, his alma mater, Artesia High School, officially retired Harden's No. 13 jersey.
COLLEGE: Harden joined Arizona State University. In his freshman season, he averaged 17.8 points per game and scored 20+ 16 times. In his sophomore season, he averaged 20.1 points per game and scored 20 or more points in 18 games. 2008, he was named the pac-10 Player of the Year, and on February 18, 2015, Arizona State officially retired Harden's No. 13 jersey.
NBA Career:
Oklahoma City Thunder Period (2009 - 2012):
Harden was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the third round of the 2009 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, Harden played 76 games, all off the bench, averaging 9.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals, and was named to the NBA's second-team of Best Rookies.
In the 2011-12 season, Harden became a key reserve for the team, scoring in double figures in the first 13 games of the season. He averaged 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, and won the Sixth Man of the Year award. In the playoffs, Harden helped the Thunder reach the finals, but finished second to the Miami Heat, 1-4.
Houston Rockets Period (2012 - 2021):
Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets in the 2012 offseason. In his first season with the Rockets, Harden performed well enough to be named to the All-Star and Best XI. Since then, he has gradually become the centerpiece of the team, leading the team to the playoffs many times.
