Family background and upbringing:
Born in a basketball family, his mother Wang Fang is a former Chinese women's basketball player who helped the Chinese women's basketball team win two consecutive second place finishes in the 1992 Olympics and 1994 Women's Basketball World Championships as a leading scorer. Under the influence of her family, Zhang Zhenlin has been interested in basketball since childhood.
Zhang Zhenlin was determined to pursue basketball after seeing stars such as Kobe and James in Beijing in 2008, and in 2014, his mother, Wang Fang, sent him to the U.S. Basketball Academy for basketball and English training.
American schooling experience:
In high school, Zhang Zhenlin first attended La Lumiere High School and became the first Chinese player to win the National High School Basketball League Championship with the team. In the 2021 CBA All-Star Game, Zhang Zhenlin was selected as a member of the starting lineup and won the Slam Dunk Contest and MVP of the Star Game, and that season, he was named to the regular season's second-team and was the official Star Player of the Regular Season.
In the 2022 - 23 season, Zhang Zhenlin was selected as one of the best domestic players in the CBA and won the CBA championship with Liaoning.
On January 17, 2024, Zhang Zhenlin set his own record for the most points scored in a single game with a 47-point performance in a CBA regular season game between Liaoning and Shanxi. on May 22, Zhang Zhenlin won the CBA championship with Liaoning for the 2023 - 2024 season; and on May 23, he was named the "Newest Star" of the 2024 CBA Finals. On May 23, Zhang Zhenlin was named the "Newest Star" of the 2024 CBA Finals.
National team experience:
On April 20, 2018, Zhang Zhenlin was selected to the training list of the Chinese men's basketball team. Later in 2019 and 2021, he was selected to the training list of China's three-player basketball national team and the training list of China's men's basketball national team, and participated in international competitions with the team, such as the Asian Preliminary Round, the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the World Cup.
