Liverpool beat Bologna 2-0 at home in the 2nd round of the Champions League, and Reds boss Slotter gave a full review of his team's performance in the post-match conference.

Talking about my first Champions League game at Anfield

Slaughter said, "It was a great game because it was a win. We managed to win the game despite the strength and resilience of our opponents. The results of other Champions League matches also show that the Champions League is always full of variables. Tonight we won and didn't concede a goal, the fans saw a lot of great individual performances and overall it was positive."

Talking about further improving

Slaughter emphasized, "The pursuit of perfection is an eternal goal, but it can never be achieved. We can and must improve, that's obvious. However, there are a lot of positive things to take from this and other games. For example, there was a period in the game when we were not in control and our opponents threatened us more than I expected, but that is normal for Champions League matches."

Talking about Salah's fifth consecutive Champions League home breakthrough

Slotter was full of praise for Salah's performance, "Salah proved himself again tonight, not only can he score goals, but he has great assists. The second goal was a fantastic finish but it couldn't have been done without the great work of his teammates like Van Dyke, Wakita, Sobosloe and Arnold."

Talking about Bologna's playing style

Slot said he wasn't surprised by Bologna's performance: "We analyzed them in depth and it's no coincidence that they only lost one game. They weren't afraid to organize attacks from the back or adopt man-to-man tactics throughout the game."

Talking about Nunez's athleticism

Sloter defended Nunez: "He has only scored one goal this season, but we also have to look at his playing time. It was his third start of the season and we can't just focus on one player. The team he faced today was very strong and his teammates didn't always find him. So it doesn't make much sense to talk excessively about him scoring only one goal and it's too early to draw conclusions."

More on Salah

Slotter mentioned Salah again, "Salah played well today and I'm happy with the way he's playing right now. In soccer, sometimes you'll score one goal in three games or not, but players like Salah and Nunez, if you keep playing them, they're always going to score."

Talking about Hrafenberg's ability to disrupt Bologna's man-to-man tactics

Slotter praised Hrafenbech: "He was excellent again tonight and the ability to dish out the ball is important for this team. But let's not forget how important he is without the ball, he did a lot of work and won the ball many times."

Became the first Reds skipper to win eight of his first nine games

Slaughter was humble about it, "I don't draw a lot of conclusions, but it's great. There are a lot of incredible coaches working here and doing so many special things. I don't want to be remembered as a coach who won eight of his first nine games, I want to do something more special. I took over this squad after Klopp left, the players put in a lot of effort and my coaching staff helped me achieve these results. But I want to do more special things."
