On October 3, Beijing time, the 2nd round of the Champions League stage is about to start, Bayern Munich will face Aston Villa. Before the match, Bayern striker Gnabry was interviewed, sharing his views on the match, the team's status and his personal goals.
Gnabry began by talking about the motivation that Bayern's failure to win a trophy last season gave them. "Not winning trophies [last season] did give us motivation, I can say that. Every defeat gives you more motivation. We want to win every game and we are here to win."
He emphasized that Bayern have a great team and everyone is working towards the same goal. "We are very hungry and very motivated. We have a great team and we are all working towards the same goal. We play a very consistent game, always sticking to the last minute, not allowing any slackness or mistakes in the game and always keeping control of the game."
Gnabry also mentioned the positive impact that new manager Vincent Kompany has had on him. "Kompany has taught me to stay hungry. We have shown that so far. It's good for us attacking players to have a lot of chances to score goals."
When asked if the fact that he will be playing against a Premier League side in England gives him any special motivation, Gnabry said, "Honestly, no. I think the more goals I score here, the better it is for me. I wish I could score goals here as well, but it always feels good to be back in England."
