In the second round of the Champions League stage, Bayern Munich lost 0-1 to Aston Villa away from home. After the match, Bayern skipper Vincent Kompany was interviewed by TNT Sports and gave an in-depth analysis of the match.

Kompany began by admitting, "We missed some great chances and they [Villa] took them. That's a lesson we have to learn from this. Watkins was excellent, he has a lot of commendable qualities, one of which is the ability to cleverly separate the two center-backs and create space for attacks."

Despite the loss, Kompany was positive about his team's overall performance: "When we control the ball, we are a threat. Villa is also a strong team and their home ground is not easy to conquer. Looking at the whole game, we played quite well but failed to capitalize on our chances."

Kompany also spoke about what it's like to coach Bayern: "No matter where you coach, the job is the same, it's a privilege. Bayern and Aston Villa are two clubs that have a deep history with each other. I feel very honored to work with these top players. But unfortunately, we failed to convert our chances into goals today."

Furthermore, Kompany singled out Kane in the Villa side: "Obviously, I know Kane from when I played against him. He's playing even better now than he has in the past and I've always thought that he's not someone who will stagnate. His improvement is there for all to see and is a player we need to focus on."
