After the 7-1 home win over Celtic in the 2nd round of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Zhan spoke to the media, commenting on his team's performance and sharing his feelings about the game.
On the ankle injury sustained in the opening half, Emre Zhan said, "Everything is fine. I thought it would be worse at the end of the game but luckily the right ankle seems to be fine. I've damaged ligaments many times before so I did get a bit scared at first."
Speaking about his penalty break, he revealed, "During the day today, I said to myself that if there was a penalty opportunity and I could take it, I would choose to play in the middle. I think it was the right choice and I'm glad it ended up helping the team to extend the lead."
Emre Zhan regretted the goal his team conceded: "It was a cross, I was going to clear it for a corner, but I didn't see anyone coming in from the left. What's even more regrettable is that I didn't get on top of the ball hard enough and it slipped a bit. It annoyed me a lot, but we made it 2-1 very quickly. i'm sorry, that shouldn't have happened, but we've learned from it."
Speaking about Girassi's penalty, Emre Zhan said, "He wanted to take the first one, but I was feeling in good shape, so I told him I was going to take it. At the same time, I assured him that if we had a second penalty, he would score it. The most important thing is that the team scores, it doesn't matter who scores, as long as we score. I'm glad Girassi took his chance as well."
Emre Jen spoke highly of Girassi's performances: "You can see in the last few weeks that he's been very good. Although he's just come back from injury, he's already playing very, very well. He's good at scoring goals and it's not easy to defend against him because he doesn't always stay in front of the ball, sometimes he drops back to get the ball. He's a very, very good striker and I think we're going to have a lot of good times with him."
Finally, speaking about the reunion with Celtic boss Rodgers, Emre Zhan lamented, "It's very special. 10 years ago, he brought me to Liverpool and I'm very grateful to him. He's a great manager and a great person. It was great to see him again at today's game."
