In an interview with the club's official website, Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey expressed his anticipation and confidence for the upcoming match against Bayern Munich at Villa Park as the 2nd round of the Champions League is about to begin.
Ramsey began by talking about the atmosphere at Villa Park, "The atmosphere at Villa Park is always electric, even for a 3pm Premier League game on a Saturday. I'm looking forward to 8pm on Wednesday night when the fans will be even more excited and their support will be a huge help to us."
He is aware of the enormity of the game, but also believes in the power of the fans: "It will be a huge test, but I think, especially in the European games last season, the fans really helped us carry us through a lot of tough games. So I'm hoping that that strength will be evident again and help us get through this Champions League."
Ramsey also looked back on his soccer career, moving up from the ladder to the first team and now standing in the Champions League with emotion, "When I first started to move up from the ladder to the first team, we were still a long way away from the Champions League. Now that I'm in the first team and have the opportunity to play in the Champions League, it's a dream come true for me."
He is proud of his team's performance in the Premier League last season and is looking forward to his family and friends coming to watch the game: "We did well last season and ended up fourth in the Premier League. My family and friends will be here to watch and enjoy the Champions League and I'm looking forward to the game."
Finally, Ramsey said the players are already full of motivation: "I don't think the players need extra motivation, when you play at home in the Champions League against a strong team like Bayern Munich, you are already full of fight and passion yourself."
