In Austria's 3-1 win over North Macedonia in Group C, Austrian substitute Arnautovic, a current Shanghai seaport striker, was involved in a dispute over what appeared to be "racial discrimination".
Arnautovic came on as a substitute in the second half of Austria's 3-1 win over North Macedonia. The work happened as the game approached the 90th minute, when Arnautovic scored Austria's third goal of the game in a one-two punch, helping to seal the win for good.
After the goal, an over-excited Arnautovic made a provocative remark at the North Macedonian defender, Alioski, who was beside him. This had something to do with the fact that the opponent had been overly aggressive in defense against a number of Austrian players, including Arnautovic, on a number of previous occasions.
Sources say that Arnautovic then verbally abused Alioski's Albanian mother, which involved racial discrimination.
UEFA has always had zero tolerance for words involving racial discrimination. Every year, UEFA spends a lot of time, thought and money on anti-racism campaigns. At soccer events at the European level, there are public service announcements on the theme of opposing racial discrimination before the start of each match. Arnautovic's father is Serbian and his mother is Austrian, and Serbia and Albania have a very deep antagonism.
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Arnautovic immediately followed with a personal statement, which said: "Yesterday, due to my emotional state, I said some harsh words, and I would like to apologize for that, especially to my friends in North Macedonia and Albania. I want to make one thing clear: I am not a racist! I have friends in literally every country and I stand for diversity. Anyone who knows me knows that."
But will UEFA take Arnautovic's word for it next and will they impose additional sanctions? Now is still an unknown. And the foreign media has repeatedly emphasized that Arnautovic in the

He will not return to Shanghai afterward, he will go to
Serie A
