Q: How did you get into soccer as a kid? Were you influenced by anyone?
Caldecott: We all know that Brazilians love to play soccer, and it is a sport that is in the blood of Brazilians. When I was a kid, my father used to play soccer and would take me along with him, and since then I've had a relationship with soccer.
My father wasn't a working soccer player, but he often said that he played better than me, and we never played on the same field, so just hearing him say that made me admit it. His position is center back and I'm a striker, so if he was my opponent, he would definitely use some tactics to subdue me, like beating me up or pestering me, haha.
Q: How did you get on the job path?
CALDECKER: There are many youth leagues in Brazil and I participated in some training and leagues at that time. I joined the youth team of Salon Vasco da Gama when I was 10-11 years old. From then on, I was slowly on my way to working soccer, playing from youth soccer to working soccer.
Q: What was the process of making the decision to join Shenzhen from Chongqing?
Caldecott: I can't describe exactly how long it took to make this resolution, but it was more than a month. The first thing I did was to talk to my family and we discussed it together. The Shamrock Saloon introduced me to its plans for me and its future direction, which was very important to me.
Mr. Ding told me about the development plan of SZF, including the player configuration, which made me very interested. Also, Cruyff Jr. used to be my coach, we worked together, it was a very good experience, I'm very happy to be able to work with him again.
For me, this might be an opportunity to make new history. It took a few weeks to complete the transfer, but the resolution had been in my mind for some time. I didn't make the decision to join Shamrocks all of a sudden, I've been thinking about it for a long time.
Q: What kind of knowledge did you have about the Shenzhen team before coming to Shenzhen?
Caldecott: Before I joined SZF, I knew some of the players, whether as opponents or as teammates, we used to play together. Some of the players in the team are more famous, we all know them. In addition, there is the coaching team, because we used to work together, so we are familiar with each other.
For me, it was the first step to know this team. Later, before I joined, I learned about the vision of the salon, which was also a very important step for my working life.
Q: What is different to know after joining?
Caldecott: It's normal to have new perceptions. At the teammate level, Won Min-sung and I were teammates before, while other teammates I know more or less, but not together as colleagues, which is a big change for me. When you come to a new team, there are definitely a lot of new changes to get used to. In addition to me, there are also new foreign aiders joining SZF, for me it needs a process of adaptation. It's a natural phenomenon that all players have to adapt to when they go to a new environment.
Q: After joining the Shenzhen team, did you stroll around the city of Shenzhen? Any image of a more in-depth place?
Caldecott: When I came to Shenzhen, in fact, already in the winter break, our energy at that time are put in the preparation of the new season league, I haven't had too much time to go to far away places to hang out.
Q: Do you have any hobbies outside of competition and training?
Caldecott: I love fishing, whether it's sea fishing or river fishing. Fishing is a pleasure and I enjoy it very much. In Brazil I once caught a big fish close to 25 kilograms. In Chongqing, I also went fishing, but I didn't catch anything too big. In Shenzhen, I haven't had much time to find out where I can fish, and I've heard that there are many places to fish in Shenzhen. In addition to fishing, I also like to gather with my family, go out to eat, go out shopping, or maybe take a walk in the park.
Q: Brazil is a soccer kingdom with many stars, which one do you appreciate the most?
Caldecott: As we all know, in the history of Brazilian soccer, there are many superstars who have shone on the field, including Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and so on.

Q: What Chinese have you learned to speak over the years of playing soccer in our country? Can you say a few words briefly?
Caldecott: I can speak some numbers and so on, and a lot of soccer terms. In fact, I wasted a lot of time learning Chinese, because I came to China at the beginning of a short-term contract, I did not think about learning Chinese. After I renewed my contract, I didn't have a lot of free time, so I lost the time and opportunity to learn Chinese. Now I really want to learn this language carefully, I want to communicate with us better.
Q: Are there any known or perhaps favorite stars from China, such as movie stars or singers?
Caldecott: This aspect is really my weakness, I don't understand much. Because of the language, I don't understand the songs they sing, and I don't understand what they say in their movies. For me, I still pay more attention to soccer, like Gao Lin and Yong Pei, my teammates beside me, they give me a lot of joy and assistance. I think these friends are the most famous people I know.
Q: What is your favorite Chinese food? Have you tried Cantonese food since coming to Shenzhen?
Caldecott: I've eaten hot pot in Chongqing before, and I haven't tested too many local cuisines in Guangdong, because I've been here for a short time and I haven't purposely sought out some Guangdong cuisine. Perhaps my greatest knowledge of Chinese cuisine remains from the previous few years. If someone over here can treat me, I'd be happy to test it out.
Q: Many fans have said that you are very strong-willed and battle-knowledgeable, what do you think of their comments?
Caldecott: I think they're right, I'm a player who loves to win, I love the feeling of victory, and I respect my teammates very much. My teammates and I respect each other, and when my teammates and I win together, it's a very good feeling.
Q: After the start of this season, Shenzhen fans have continuously traveled to Guangzhou to cheer for the team, what kind of feeling is it to hear the cheering of Shenzhen fans during the competition? What do you want to say to them?
Caldecott: I'm very grateful to our fans, who come to support us in every game. I know very well that fans are very important to us, they can inspire our emotions, so that we can be more active and more fierce to play well in every game. I think the fans are an indispensable part of our salon, for the development of the game and the environment of soccer, the fans are indispensable.
I'm looking forward to winning every game as a gift to our fans for their continuous support and assistance.
