In one of the UEFA Confederation's marquee matches, Ghent went down 2-4 away to Chelsea. After the match, Gent striker Gudjonsson gave an in-depth analysis and review of the match in a UEFA post match interview.

Gudjohnsen began by saying, "We played quite well, I don't think we played poorly. Of course, we could have done better, especially in possession, and there were moments when we could have been more precise. But overall, we created some very good chances and managed to score two goals, so there are still a lot of positives from the game."

Gudjonsson gave full respect to a top team like Chelsea: "Chelsea is a top team with a lot of good players, and away games at Stamford Bridge are not easy. But we weren't intimidated, and when we really concentrate and play with confidence, we can do very well. We had chances throughout the game, it's just a shame we didn't take more of them."

Speaking about the match at Stamford Bridge, Gudjohnsen also revealed his personal feelings: "It's a big moment for me and my family. As a footballer, especially a young player, you want to play in games like this. Against Chelsea, at Stamford Bridge, in a European game, it was an unforgettable experience for me. With or without an assist, scoring a goal could have been better, but to be able to stand here is very satisfying."

It is worth mentioning that Gudjohnsen's father was also a famous soccer player and also played for Chelsea. On this point, Gudjohnsen said: "To be able to play at Stamford Bridge, where my father used to play, means a lot to me. It's not just a soccer match, it's a legacy and a tribute. I hope to continue to contribute to the Gent team and also hope to achieve better results in future matches."

Looking ahead, Gudjohnsen said, "We will seriously summarize the experience and lessons learned from this game and continue to train hard to improve our strength. I believe we will play even better in the next matches."
