Recently, Karius was a guest on Sky Sports Germany and expressed his views on topics related to Leno's fall from the German team list, his personal future plans and Bayern Munich.

Talking about Leno not being called up to the Germany squad, Karius said: "If I were the coach, I would play him. Over the years, Leno has been performing well in the English Premier League, and has previously shown steady play in the Bundesliga and has been selected for the national team several times. He has a lot of experience and I think he is fully qualified to be the first goal for Germany."

On whether Bayern Munich should save Sane's annual salary in exchange for Leverkusen's Wiltz, Karius answered in the affirmative: "If you are sure that you can get a talented player like Wiltz and have to save Sane's salary, then it is certainly an option worth considering. Wiltz has huge potential and his signing would breathe new life into Bayern."

Karius spoke highly of the performance of Bayern's new manager Kompany: "Kompany has done a great job so far, it's his first time in charge of a big team and it's a huge challenge for him. His tactical approach is clear and the players seem happy. I've heard he has the support of the dressing room and gets on well with the players. As a coach you have to get the dressing room behind you and Kompany has clearly done that."

Speaking about his current free-agency status, Karius said, "It's certainly not an easy situation right now, and not having a club is one of the worst things that can happen to you as a player. But I'm taking it relatively calmly because I've been through a lot of ups and downs in my career. I can cope with the situation very well, even if I wish things were different."

Finally, Karius was asked how close he was to ending his career and he confessed, "You have to be realistic. In the summer I received some offers, but they didn't appeal to me, so I decided to reject them and wait. For me, ending my career is an option, but I still keep other options open. I train every day, stay fit and could theoretically start again right away, anything is possible."
