In the second round of the Champions League, Bologna lost to Liverpool 0-2. After the match, Bologna goalkeeper Skorupski was interviewed by Canal+ Sport, where he commented on the match and the performance of his opponent Liverpool, and also talked about his former teammate Szczesny's comeback to join Barcelona.
Evaluating the game
"I am very pleased with my team. Even though we lost the game 0-2, we showed resilience and a great performance on the field. In the first half, we had chances to score, but Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson made two great saves to neutralize our threats. In the second half, we still played according to the coach's instructions and maintained the overall defense and attacking rhythm. I think we did very well and although we lost, we go home with our heads held high because we tried our best."
Evaluating Liverpool
"It is well known what kind of players Liverpool have, they are very strong. If you give them a little bit of space, they can play great offense and score goals. Regarding the two goals we conceded today, the second goal was a very nice shot from Salah and there was almost nothing I could do there. As for the first goal, I think we should have been a bit more aggressive in defending the cross, but that's the way the game of soccer is, sometimes a little mistake can lead to a goal. Salah was undoubtedly one of the best players on the pitch, though, and he played an excellent game."
Szczesny makes comeback to join Barcelona
"I am not surprised by Wojciech's (Szczesny) comeback to join Barcelona. Because for him, anything can happen. He announced his retirement before but then chose to make a comeback and join a big club like Barcelona. I wish him all the best, he has achieved a lot in his career and I hope he will continue to shine at Barcelona as well. As he said, Barcelona is impossible to resist and I'm sure he'll show his mettle there."
