In 2001, Zhou Tong joined Beijing Guoan from his hometown of Zibo in Shandong Province
In 2006, as a member of Guoan's third-tier team, Zhou Tong participated in the "Adidas + Challenge Global Finals" held in Germany with the team, and coach He Hongguang made him the captain. Zhou Tong played 24 games in the season, and at the end of the season the team won the Central League title and was promoted to the Chinese Super League.
