Di Lorenzo made his official debut for Italy in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Europe qualifiers with a 5-0 win over Liechtenstein.
In June 2021, Di Lorenzo was named to Italy's roster for the 2020 UEFA European Football Championships, which he won with his team on July 11th.
On September 8, Di Lorenzo scored his first goal with the Italian national team, the last in Italy's 5-0 home win over Lithuania in a 2022 World Cup qualifier; he also assisted Giacomo Raspadoli's first goal for Italy, the third of the tournament.
Di Lorenzo was born on August 4, 1993 in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Garfagnana, in the Tuscany region of Italy. The player grew up receiving soccer training at the youth camp of the local Lucchese soccer club. He initially played as a striker, but after systematic training, the coach converted Di Lorenzo from a striker to a wing back.
The player later moved to the youth ranks of Regina, where he played his first official game of his career at the age of 17 in a Serie B match against Sassuolo in May 2011.In the 2012-13 season, he spent one season as a loan player for Cuneo, a club in the C. In the summer of 2015, Di Lorenzo moved to Matera.
In August 2017, he signed for Empoli. In his first season at Empoli, Di Lorenzo scored 5 goals in 37 appearances as a starter with the team and helped the team become Serie B champions.In the summer of 2018, Di Lorenzo started his first Serie A match since his career.A 2-0 home win over Cagliari in the first round on August 19, 2018 was Di Lorenzo's debut match in Serie A, with the player playing the entire match. However after experiencing one first win, Empoli went on to have 10 matches without a win. After 2 changes of manager throughout the season, the team was relegated to Serie B, finishing 3rd from the bottom of the league.
On June 7, 2019, Napoli signed Di Lorenzo from Empoli, becoming the first new player the team got this summer.
