College years:In December 2014, Towns joined the University of Kentucky. In his first season at the University of Kentucky, the team utilized a unique "platoonsystem" rotation system that limited the amount of time players could play. He averaged 21.1 minutes per game that season, contributing 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 caps, and was named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Best XI, Southeastern Conference Rookie of the Year XI, and the Southeastern Conference Rookie of the Year. Period: In the 2015 NBA Draft, Towns was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round with the 1st overall pick.
