July 25: Guinea's Olympic team lost 1-2 to New Zealand's Olympic team in the first round of Group A of the Olympic men's soccer group stage.

New Zealand midfielder Gabbert missed a penalty kick in the 24th minute of the game; however, in the 25th minute, Gabbert made up for the mistake and managed to score the opening goal, helping the New Zealand National Olympics take a 1-0 lead at the half.

A goal by Guinean striker Balde was disallowed in the 64th minute of play; Diawara equalized for his team in the 72nd minute; and New Zealand striker Weiner scored again in the 76th minute to put them back in the lead.

The match finally ended with the Guinean National Olympics losing to the New Zealand National Olympics 1-2. In the Olympic Men's Football Group A standings, New Zealand's national team is leading with 3 points, while Guinea's national team is at the end of the table with 0 points.
