July 25, 2024 - The Argentine Olympic team was defeated 1-2 by the Moroccan Olympic team in the first round of Group B of the men's soccer group stage at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The match was interrupted for two hours when fans threw debris and stormed the field.
After the match, Argentina's national team head coach Mascherano said, "Yesterday they broke into the empty door for the sake of theft, and Almada's belongings were stolen. They asked us to provide all the evidence, yet what happened next."
Today they broke into the playing field seven times and threw firecrackers at us. Instead, they told us that the match ended in a 2-2 draw and that even the Moroccan team did not want to continue playing.
It's a scandal that these things happen, and this is the Olympics, not a casual kick around with your neighbors.
Now we need to look ahead and make sure we win the next two games.
