According to the AFC's official website, AFC President Salman met with Ms. Wulunpan, the president of the Thai Football Association, and praised the progress made by Thai soccer.
Salman said, "The Thai Football Association has shown the value of unity that has come to represent Asian soccer over the years."
The Thai Football Authority has been actively cooperating with this call and has successfully organized a number of AFC and international level tournaments. On behalf of the Asian Football Family, I would like to express once again our sincere gratitude to the Thai Football Authority and the Thai soccer community for their unwavering support and the excellent organizational skills they have demonstrated in the field of soccer.
AFC President Salman also praised the achievements of Thai soccer. Earlier this year, the Thai men's national soccer team managed to reach the last 16 of the Asian Cup tournament in Qatar. Meanwhile, Thailand's futsal team has also reached the finals of the 2024 Asian Futsal Cup in Thailand and won a berth in the FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan in September this year.
Salman spoke highly of the proactive measures taken by Ms. Wulunpan, who was elected CEO of the Thai league, to enhance the tournament's operations: "Thai soccer is to be commended for the progress it has made recently under the leadership of President Wulunpan. The AFC is also ready to offer assistance to all member associations in their efforts to improve the standard of the game in Asia."
