On May 1, news reports stated that Wrexham's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McHenry plan to expand the club's home stadium, increasing its capacity to 55,000 people.

After two consecutive jumps, Wrexham will play in League One next season, with the Welsh club attracting the attention of fans around the world with the documentary Welcome to Wrexham.

Wrexham's historic ground can only hold around 12,600 fans and their star owner is planning an expansion. "We now have a plan where we will do a project between each stand and eventually have a stand on all four sides of the ground," said McHenry. It's hard to say right now, but we think 45,000 to 55,000 people could get into the stadium."

Reynolds said, "It's like the whole town gets to come to a game."

However, McHenry and Reynolds are frustrated by the "bureaucratic red tape" of UK building regulations. McHenry says: "Of course, safety issues and all these regulations are in place for a reason, but some of these things just seem to be designed to put up barriers."

"I find it much more difficult to build a stadium in England than anywhere else in the world. Getting into the Premier League is our ultimate goal and we have to stay in the Premier League so we can continue to grow."

"But this can only be accomplished through community support because there are many ways to succeed. We believe that only a few paths are morally viable."

Wrexham's home ground is the oldest international soccer stadium in the world.Wales' first home game was played here in 1877. Developing this stadium will almost certainly bring Wales back to Wrexham more often. Since 2009, the Welsh adult men's soccer team has only played two matches here, two friendlies that no one paid much attention to, against Trinidad and Tobago and Gibraltar.
