He could meet Trump in the quarterfinals, with Scarlett and Zhang Anda also in contention and likely to meet. It will be difficult for Trump to defend his title against three Chinese players.
Chinese player Xiao Guodong is expected to break through in the bottom half of the zone, with Kyren Wilson leading the way in the eighth half, and Shaun Murphy and Barry Hawkins also having potential to make a run at the title. Last season's runner-up Ali Carter is also in the bottom half.
