
Feb. 16 - The Tajikistan Football Federation has officially announced that 57-year-old Croatian Petar Šegelt, head coach of the Tajikistan men's national soccer team, has resigned at the end of his contract.

Croatian specialist Petar Shegelt will leave as head coach of the Tajikistan national team due to the expiration of his contract. Under his leadership, the Tajikistan national team played very successfully at the Asian Cup in Doha, reaching the quarterfinals.
The Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF) thanked Petar Schegelt for his joint efforts over the past two years and wished him success in his future coaching endeavors.
Under Petar Segelt, the Tajikistan national team played 24 matches, winning 11, drawing 7 and losing 6. The national team also won two international tournaments under Segelt: the 2022 King Thai Cup and the 2023 Malaysian Independence Cup.
The name of the new head coach of the Tajikistan national team will be announced in the coming days.
Tajikistan men's soccer team participated in the Asian Cup for the first time, won 1, drew 1 and lost 1 in the group stage, came out second in the group stage, knocked out UAE on penalties in the 1/8 finals, and lost 0-1 to eventual runners-up Jordan in the 1/4 finals. Tajikistan's world ranking rose to 99th from 106th before the Asian Cup.
