In a recent interview, Real Sociedad president Aperibe elaborated on the team's transfer operations in August as well as its future strategic planning. He gave a clear response to a number of topics of concern to fans.
Speaking about defender reinforcements, Aperibe said, "We have considered many candidates in the transfer market, including the experienced Hummels. However, due to the tight transfer window, we had to make a decision in a limited time. In the end, we chose to take Agder on loan to fill Lenormand's vacancy. Agder is a mid-career player whose arrival will strengthen our back line without affecting youngster Pacheco's development too much."
In response to previous comments that he would not be signing back Inigo, Aperibe explained, "The reason why we chose to sign Ageld on loan instead of buying a young defender is because we have full confidence in Pacheco. We want to give more opportunities to our young players and at the same time maintain the stability of the first team. Ageld's loan deal was agreed with this in mind."
Speaking about Subi Mendi, Aperibe praised, "Subi Mendi is a very good player who has made it clear that he will stay at Real Sociedad. Despite the fact that the team may face the departure of important players this summer, Subbimendi has never used this to ask the club for a high salary or a long contract. His loyalty and dedication are commendable."
On the departure of Robert Navarro, Aperibe said, "We decided to let Navarro go after he confirmed that he did not want to renew his contract. Our goal was to maintain the stability of the first team and reduce the internal noise. Although Navarro may be unhappy with our decision, we made it with the overall interests of Real Sociedad in mind first and foremost."
Additionally, Aperibe revealed the team's financial situation, "We are in a very good financial position and are still far from the salary cap. We always make sustainable investments and believe that we will do better and better in the future."
