Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo recently reflected on his journey with the Blues and the progress he has made in an interview with Chelsea's official website. He candidly shared his challenges and adaptation process when he first arrived at Chelsea, and expressed his bright expectations for the future.
Caicedo said that it was really a bit difficult for him at the beginning of last season. As a new member of a big club, he needed to adapt to the new environment, new coaching staff and teammates, as well as the pressure of having to win every game. However, through continuous learning and hard work, he gradually integrated into Chelsea's tactical system and showed excellent form this season.
"I learned a lot." Caicedo said, "When a new person arrives with a new approach, you need to adapt and get used to a new club. Now I'm more comfortable with the club and the new coaching staff, which is good. I'm more confident and I'm playing better."
Caicedo gave special thanks to head coach Maresca for his trust and development. He believes that Maresca is a very good coach and has given him responsibility to play with more confidence on the field. Maresca always told Caicedo to help the team both offensively and defensively, and Caicedo has done just that.
"He gave me responsibility. It's good when a coach does that because he knows you're up to the task." Said Caicedo, "I always try to keep the ball, give out assists or make good passes to create opportunities. I work hard on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor and I'm very happy when I help my team win games."
Maresca also made Caicedo captain in a couple of games this season, which meant a lot to Caicedo. He said that it was his dream to be Chelsea's captain and he is very proud and grateful for that.
"It means a lot to me." Caicedo smiled, "It's my dream to be the captain of one of the best teams in the world. I'm very grateful to him (Maresca) because without him none of this would have been possible."
Caicedo also spoke about Chelsea's current form and goals. He said that Chelsea's current good form is what everyone has been waiting for and he is glad that he is a part of it. He wants Chelsea to finish in the top four this season and expects the team to win trophies.
"Chelsea is a team that likes to win trophies." Caicedo emphasized, "All the players want to win everything here. We can do something special in the coming years. We have a very good team: the squad, the coach, the staff are all excellent."
As one of the core players of the Chelsea team, Caicedo is now in a rising period of his career. He believes that with everyone working together, Chelsea will be able to usher in more victories and honors.
