Former Chelsea manager Tony Potter has spoken highly of his team's goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, saying that despite criticism this season, he is still a "world class" goalkeeper and has all the makings of a top class goalkeeper.

Commenting on Sanchez, Porter said, "He is truly world class when he puts in a high level performance. He has strength, size, agility and speed, qualities that make the goal he holds look very small. The ease with which he can pick the ball out of the air during a game doesn't surprise me."

Potter further noted that Sanchez, although a young goalkeeper who is still struggling to maintain consistency in his performances, has proved his mettle by performing at a high level. Potter believes that there is a need to simplify Sanchez's style of play at times, while the tactical structure that Enzo (Maresca) has developed will also help him.

In addition, Potter singled out Sanchez's passing ability: "He has the diverse passing ability to make long passes and threaten the opposition's back line from the goalkeeper's position. This is a real 'asset' because once he does this, the structure of the opponent's defense will change and they will be more alert to this threat from the goalkeeper."

Porter concluded, "Sanchez has all the makings of a top goalkeeper. He has huge potential and I'm sure he will mature and get better with experience."
