Liverpool's central midfielder, Sobosloe, shared his footballing dreams, his upbringing and advice for his childhood self in a recent interview with the club.
Sobosloj began by expressing his desire to win the Champions League: "I want to win the Champions League. When I was a kid, what I wanted most on the pitch was to hear the national anthem and score a goal. After that, I dreamed of becoming a national team player, or even a national team captain, and now I have achieved all of these."
Speaking about his career at Liverpool, Sobosloe said, "I play in the Premier League and of course I want to win the Premier League title with Liverpool, and the Champions League title is even more of a goal for me. The goals I set are realistic but ambitious at the same time."
When asked what advice his current self would give to his childhood self, Sobosloe emphasized the mental challenge: "It's not just about what you do on the court, the hardest part is the mental challenge. being away from your parents and friends at the age of 14, living on your own in another country without knowing the language there, that's the hardest part."
He went on to share his experience of growing up, "As well as the mental challenges, the training is also important. Because you are not the only one who wants to be a Liverpool player, everyone has that dream. But it's step by step, you have to get into the first team first and then you might need to go to another league to work out. If you do well there, only then you have the chance to join Liverpool."
Sobosloj also spoke about the challenges of joining Liverpool: "Even when you come to Liverpool, your position in the team is not fixed. You have to work your way into the team's lineup, get playing time, put in a convincing performance and score goals. So it's a long journey."
