According to a new report from The Times, the Manchester United board held a six-hour meeting focusing on the worst start to a Premier League season the club has suffered. Despite United making their worst start to a season in 35 years with just eight points from their first seven league games, the meeting ended without an announcement regarding the future of manager Jurgen Ten Hagar, which seems to imply that Ten Hagar has kept his job for the time being. United drew 0-0 with Aston Villa away from home on Sunday, making their points situation even tougher, but Ten Hagar himself is optimistic about avoiding the sack.
The meeting was held at the INRIX offices in central London and was chaired by Sir Ratcliffe, one of the INRIX bosses. Attendees included Inrix's sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford, Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox. The meeting discussed Ten Hagar and United's first-team performances, and despite the club's poor performance in the Premier League, Ten Hagar has not been informed that his position is currently under threat. As a result, he plans to remain in charge of United next Saturday to face Brentford at Old Trafford
United are 14th in the Premier League table after Sunday's draw with Villa and have only won against Fulham and Southampton this season. Ten Hagar was close to losing his job in the summer, but he was able to stay on after winning the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City. It was his second trophy won at United, the first being the League Cup in his first season in charge.
Next up for United is a tight set of fixtures, including a trip to Brentford
