In a recent interview with the club's officials, Manchester City striker Doku shared his role models outside of soccer, what he's learned from training with the City stars and his most crucial attribute.
Doku said his role model outside of soccer is his father. He hopes to make his father and his entire family proud through his efforts. Doku believes that making his family proud of him is what makes him proud and motivates him to work hard to improve himself. At the same time, he hopes to become more famous and be a positive role model in people's mouths.
Speaking about what it's like to train with the City stars, Doku said he has learned a lot from each of his teammates. He singled out Kovacic, a midfielder who insists on working out in the gym even after training to prevent injuries. Doku admired Kovačić's dedication and thought it reflected his desire to be at his best. In addition, Doku cited Harland as an example, pointing out that Harland would utilize every little detail to give himself an advantage, such as wearing glasses at night and keeping his mouth closed when he sleeps. According to Doku, every player on the team is a role model because they all work hard to play at their best.
Aside from the technical aspects, Doku believes that mentality is his most crucial attribute. He grew up wanting to be the best player he could be, and whenever he played poorly, he would be the first to come forward and admit that he didn't play at his best. Doku said he would self-criticize after a game to understand his shortcomings and try to improve. This mentality has helped him continue to improve and become a great player.
Doku also reflected on his career, where he has tried to contribute in every team and every season since his debut at Anderlecht at the age of 16. Whether it's at Anderlecht, Rennes or now Manchester City, Doku wants to be involved and play a big part in every game. He believes that by maintaining this mentality and effort, he will be able to achieve his goals.
