Sun Peng attended the Shenyang Sports Institute, where he studied athletic training. After graduation, he taught in the athletic department of Northeast University of Finance and Economics. Sun Peng began his career in physical training in 2008, starting with tennis and golf. After gradually gaining some fame in the industry, Sun Peng began to secure various sports teams in Liaoning Province to participate in the National Games, including field hockey, sailing and windsurfing.

In foreign countries, the division of labor of physical trainers is very clear. Including protection, physical therapy, training and other aspects, are done by different people. In the country, once the player has a major injury, after surgery, there is no specialized person to take the players through the process of returning to the field, the more common practice is to invite a team from abroad, in a short period of time to do temporarily.

"Some teams hire a team of physical trainers from abroad for only one month." Sun Peng said, "The team's coach will ask this team to come up with a training plan. Once this plan is given, the team will often use it for several years. In addition, the team hired from abroad will have some problems in cooperating with the team's head coach."

It is because of this problem that Sun Peng gradually focused his work on the study of athletes returning to the field after surgery, gradually accumulating experience in his work and wanting to improve the degree of refinement of physical training in China.

"I started out in women's field hockey, a sport where ACL reconstruction surgery is quite common." Sun Peng introduced, "In itself, the chance of ACL rupture in female athletes is going to be much higher than male athletes. At that time, I was heavily and intensively targeting this case, learning and practicing with many experts, and slowly growing."

After the Liaoning National Games, Sun Peng experienced a visit to the United States. After returning to China, he set up his own team to provide physical training services for various organizations. In the process, Sun Peng has also worked with e-sports players, the most famous of which is the League of Legends player with the game ID "Uzi": Jane Proud.

"Uzi" Jane Pride.

In the eyes of people who are not familiar with e-sports, e-sports players are different from traditional "athletes", and little is known about the physical training they need. Sun Peng explains: "E-sports programs require a higher level of talent, and their ability to capture eyeballs and hand speed are beyond the reach of ordinary people. Jane was once tested in the U.S., and his eye-catching ability and hand speed are faster than Formula 1 players. He watched us make moves, perhaps like a cat watching a human make moves. In this case, the training he needs more than anything else is regeneration and recovery. High-intensity e-sports competitions require a high level of decision-making and control in a short period of time. And fatigue of the nervous system is more difficult to recover from than fatigue of the muscles."

When Sun Peng came into contact with Jane Hao, Jane Hao had a lot of physical strain accumulated over the years. He had more or less problems with his shoulders, wrists, back and waist. Fortunately, Jane Proud was also interested in sports and was happy to participate in swimming, basketball, soccer, tennis, boxing, and other sports. Sun Peng also tries to free Jane Hao from his injuries through these physical trainings.

And in Sun Peng's opinion, sports training is not only beneficial to the body of the e-campaigners, but also to change their character: "The e-campaigners are more closed to themselves. Why do they like the virtual world? It's more because they are not good at communicating in the real world. They earn a lot of money, have no concept of money, and with their young age and immature character, they often do some unbelievable things. It's also very important to build and channel their personality through sports training."

"Players practiced with him and eventually made the national team."

As a Dalian native, Sun Peng had a complex in soccer and wanted to do something for Dalian soccer. Around the same time as head coach Xie Hui, he joined the Dalian People Professional Football Club, and in a very short time, he gained the trust and recognition of the players. A Dalian People club source had this to say about Sun Peng: "After Lin Liangming practiced with him, he entered the

the national team

; Wang Zhenao and Wang Yu made the National Olympic team after practicing with him."

Sun Peng and Lin Liangming

For such praise, Sun Peng said: "the growth of the athletes, is not the role of one or two people, I just in their growth path to do some part of the work, but the athletes, if they can enter the national, must be out of a combination of factors. For example, the appointment of the head coach, personal efforts, on-field training and so on. An athlete's success depends more on luck, because he needs many factors to develop in a positive direction. And physical training isn't everything, it's designed to get each athlete as close to his ceiling as possible. There are players who are very talented, and with the right training, it will expose him to the highest level of his own talent possible."

Referring to the time when he just contacted Lin Liangming, Sun Peng recalled, "He suffered two consecutive injuries to his ribs at that time. The first injury was a hit by an opponent, and he was later treated and returned to the field. During an outdoor training session on a rainy day, Lin Liangming was in very good shape and hit an overhead kick. However, his body was parallel to the ground when he shot the ball, and he landed on his injured part when he hit the ground. At that time, I helped him indoors and questioned him about his previous injury."

Before this, Lin Liangming's approach to this kind of injury was to recuperate. When feel no pain, and then gradually resume ball training. Sun Peng has a different view on this: "This part of the intercostal muscle and rib cartilage needs a certain amplitude during breathing. If you do not have this amplitude, breathing will be limited. So just not moving is not an option. You want to maximize the magnitude of the intercostal muscles that carry you as you breathe, to the extent that it's painless. Also, soccer is a rivalry sport, and you need to carry pressure in a strong rivalry in order to qualify for the sport."

Sun Peng also noticed that Lin Liangming's ankles were rather loose, and added protective training for him accordingly. After listening to and understanding the problems Sun Peng pointed out to him, Lin Liangming gradually built up his trust in him. In addition to regular recovery and training, based on Lin Liangming's character, Sun Peng also arranged a special training program for him.

"I found that he is more introverted." Sun Peng said, "Lin Liangming is not the kind of player who is particularly articulate, he needs to be sharper. So before every game, I will arrange boxing training for him, not only to increase his ability to pull his ribs, but also to create something different in his character and athletic performance."

In the 2022 season, Dalianese sidekick Wang Zhen'ao suffered a ruptured ACL in a game against Henan. Sun Peng took Wang Zhen'ao through pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery rehabilitation to ensure that he could return to a certain level of mobility in his knee, completely reduce swelling, and be able to carry a certain amount of weight before the surgery. When Wang Zhenao returned to the team after the surgery, Sun Peng, along with his coaching team, performed electrical muscle stimulation to prevent muscle atrophy and recovery training.

For the emergence of ACL ruptures, Sun Peng believes that the main reason is the athlete's unstable core strength and poor pelvic stability. In this way, the hamstrings help stabilize the pelvis. Part of the hamstring's own role is to help the ACL stabilize the knee, and once it's doing the job of stabilizing the pelvis, then the only job left to stabilize the knee is for the ACL to do it on its own, which leads to an increased chance of ACL rupture.

Sun Peng also believes that "Wang Zhenao was injured this time, the ligament was not shoveled to him by others, but twisted by himself. His weight is so light that he can break the ligament, which shows that there is a problem with his body's weight bearing." During Wang Zhenao's rehabilitation, Sun Peng focused on helping him improve his basic strength level and core strength control, letting him learn a good gait, teaching him how to bear the weight of the body on one leg, how to slow down and how to jump. In the process, Wang Zhenao gradually learned how to control his body and bear weight with his hip instead of his knee.

"A player like him has characteristics, but it's his shortcomings that determine his game performance." Sun Peng said, "One problem arises and we go to solve one. My job, apart from the training you can see, is more to help the players recognize what kind of position they are in now, to separate the pros and cons, and to set short-term and long-term goals."

After his comeback in April this year, Wang Zhenao's form has been gradually upward, and he was also selected in the final roster of the Asian Games team for the Hangzhou Asian Games, and became the main side defender. In the match against Myanmar, Wang Zhenao scored a goal. After the match, he excitedly sent a message to Sun Peng to share his joy.

Sun Peng replied, "This is just the beginning."

Dalian head coach Xie Hui once said "play with pressure", which was once talked about by the fans. Playing with pressure" requires a high level of pressing and running ability from the team. Although Dalian is a young team, there are veterans like Shang Yin, Yan Xiangguan and Zhu Ting in the team. The maintenance of their physical function is also an important condition to maintain the team's tactical play.

And when it comes to training veteran players, Sun Peng has not adopted a set-in-stone approach. He believes that older players will have their own habits in training, and these habits need to be respected.

"For example, a lot of times, we think that we can't do too much static stretching before training and competitions, which can affect the muscle explosion and doing work." Sun Peng said, "But very often, the athlete's psychological condition is very important. If such training can make him more relaxed and easier to enter the competition, or if he has formed such a habit for long years, don't change it easily."

However, Sun Peng does not accept some of the training habits of the older players wholesale. If there are some habits that will greatly affect the competitive performance of the veteran players, he will also give some suggestions. For example, Dalian veteran Zhu Ting believes that as long as he keeps his weight under control, he will be able to maintain his athletic performance and sports life. Therefore, Zhu Ting chooses to be vegetarian in his diet.

According to Sun Peng, "Zhu Ting has taken on so many games this season, something he himself did not expect. Moreover, he himself has the problem of difficulty in falling asleep, which leads to a slower recovery of his body. In this case, and insist on vegetarianism, it will not be easy to maintain such training and competition intensity. I communicated with him and hoped that he would make changes."

And front-row attacker Shang Yin, due to his long history of playing previous

soccer league

The team also has its own unique experience of playing and training habits. Sun Peng said: "Shang Yin is a player who demands a lot from himself. But when he is firing, he is basically charging at full power every time. In the beginning, he is not used to getting the most out of the least. During power-ups, his antagonist muscles are restraining each other, causing him to have to use more power in order to perform at a certain level. This has led to his calves shaking and twitching a lot since late last year, which is a result of overuse. I'm hoping he can use his body differently, but it's going to take time."

this season

China Super League (soccer league)

There are still three rounds left in the league. Sun Peng always keeps in mind the day when the league season ends: November 4th. This date is not the beginning of vacation for him, but the starting point of a new round of busyness.

"When this season's league is over, I'll be even busier than I am now." Sun Peng said, "By that time, a lot of Dalian-based players will be home on vacation. As soon as they return to Dalian, they will come to me and ask me to take them for individual preparation training. For these players who have demands on themselves, I have to give them what they want as much as possible."

Sun Peng said that the players can feel that they can bring changes to themselves with his help. And that's why the players gave him their trust.

"Trust is built a little bit. In Northeastern parlance, it's called, 'Seeing things through.'"
