Fu Ming continues to be highly regarded by the AFC and is experienced in enforcement. Back in 2008, at the age of 25, Fu Ming was promoted to national level referee, and in 2010, he started to be in charge of enforcing Chinese League and Chinese Super League matches. Fu Ming qualified for international level enforcement matches in 2014, and after a year of hard work, he managed to become an AFC Outstanding Referee. He collected the Silver Whistle Award in the 2016 season's Chinese Super League Best Referee Awards. Later, Fu Ming also penalized a series of tournaments, including the 2020 U23 Asian Cup in Thailand and the Asian Champions League, and refereed the Tokyo Olympics, the World Cup in Morocco and other tournaments.
Fu Ming's decisions in the Chinese Super League also caused a great deal of controversy, and later because of the "thesis incident" made a lot of noise, almost affecting Fu Ming's refereeing career. He came back later and continued to participate in soccer refereeing.
Therefore, despite Ronaldo's opinion on the penalty kicks in the AFC Asian Cup play-offs, Fu Ming was generally taken seriously by the Asian Football Confederation. Originally planned to be held in China, the Asian Cup was transferred to Qatar, after which Chinese referees such as Fu Ming and Maning will travel to Qatar to enforce the current Asian Cup matches.
