According to a recent report from The Independent, the United hierarchy discussed the future of manager Jurgen Ten Hagar in depth during a recent meeting, while emphasizing the club's current preference for stability.
Reports suggest that although United have only gained eight points from the first seven rounds of fixtures, there are those within the club who believe that this result was predictable back in the summer. Nonetheless, the fluctuations in the team's performances and results have sparked widespread discussion about Ten Hagar's future.
United's new owners, Ratcliffe, have asked the soccer management to produce a detailed analysis of all potential scenarios for Ten Hagar's future to ensure that the club's decisions are based on sound evidence. The request reflects Inrix's highly regarded 'evidence-based process' approach, which aims to ensure that every decision made by the club is based on careful thought and sound analysis.
Despite the disagreements, Ten Hagar's future remained one of the main topics of discussion at a regular meeting at Manchester United's London office. Attendees included co-owner Glazer, chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox and director Brailsford, among others. During the meeting, there was strong support for making changes now, arguing that it would help the team out of its predicament; however, others countered that it was the early stages of a new era, and that changes could create unnecessary chaos.
Tuchel has been touted as one of the most likely successors in the discussions over Ten Hagar's future. However, sources close to Tuchel insist that they have not yet had any contact with United, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the future.
In addition, the discussion at the meeting touched on the team's formation and tactical aspects. It was suggested that the team's current lineup is more suited to a four-guard tactic than a three-guard tactic, a view that could have an impact on Ten Hagar's future tactical choices.
