On the eve of England's Europa League B match against Greece, England player Stones made a special mention of Cole Palmer, who has just been honored as England's Player of the Season for the 2023/24 season, in his press conference. Stones spoke highly of the young teammate's performance and expressed his expectations of him.
Stones said, "I really liked Cole (Palmer) as soon as he came into our first team. He brings that sense of calmness to the game and a style of play to his game that is as natural as a walk in the park. His talent and strength really shines through."
"When he decided to leave (Manchester City), I did feel a bit sad for him. I also talked to him and made him realize that. But his performance on the field and his spirit of stepping up at crucial moments is really commendable. He has that ability to change the course of a game, which is very rare."
Speaking about Palmer's current form, Stones said, "He's in great form at the moment, whether it's technique, fitness or mentality, he's at a very high level. I hope he can keep it up and continue to contribute to the England team."
Stones also mentioned Palmer's performances in important matches: "He scored in the [Europa League] final and that was a big moment in his career. He has experienced those important matches and important moments, and I believe those experiences will make him more mature and confident. Hopefully there will be more games and moments like that in the future for him to continue to show his talent."
