In a recent Relevo interview, Tottenham Hotspur defender Polo shared his soccer career, transfer experience and personal goals. Regarding his interaction with Tottenham boss De La Fuente, Polo said that they have a good relationship and that De La Fuente mainly focuses on his defensive abilities, which is normal as defense is the first duty of a defender. Although De La Fuente prefers a four-at-the-back system, Polo has gradually adapted to this tactic and feels comfortable and confident with it.
Polo also revealed that he had a small bet with his agent to score 10 goals this season. Although he has only scored one so far, he says that the most important thing is to improve every day and keep moving towards his goal. Speaking about the turning point in his career, Polo believes that his three years in Portugal gave him an extra boost and allowed him to gradually grow from a young player to a mature one. The Premier League experience has also made him more mature and he has to be at his best every weekend.
Regarding the transfer experience, Polo said he is used to constantly changing clubs as part of soccer. However, he also admits that having a few years of stability at a club is very important for a player's growth. Nonetheless, he remains focused on his current job and trying to get his feet wet at Tottenham.
When asked about clubs like Real Madrid being interested in him, Polo said that this is something to look forward to. He believes that if Real Madrid are interested in him, that means he is doing well. He will continue to focus on his work, but if there is an opportunity to take a bigger step, he will be ready in advance.
In addition, Polo shared his love for Madrid and his active life on social media. He revealed that he has a team in charge of creating content for social media, but that he still participates in discussions and decisions. Regarding his previous "jibe" at Rabio in the Europa League, Polo said that it was a personal response and that there was no malice in it.
Finally, Polo expressed his love and blessings for the national team. He said that he will do his best to return to the national team again and looks forward to winning more honors for his country together with his teammates. Throughout the interview, Polo showed his maturity, confidence and focus, which is undoubtedly an important reason why he has been able to stand firm at Tottenham Hotspur and keep improving.
