Bale is a retired Welsh professional footballer who played as a winger and former captain of the Welsh soccer representative team.

In May 2021, Bale was named in the 26-man Wales squad for the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship.
In the 2022 World Cup European qualifying play-offs, Bale led the Welsh team to cut through Austria first and then Ukraine, successfully leading Wales to break into the World Cup again after 64 years. In the intra-conference tournament, Bale was rightfully named to the 26-man roster. In the first group match against the United States, Bale scored a 12-yard field goal, which was the first World Cup goal for Wales after 64 years, in addition to his first World Cup goal. Unfortunately, Wales did not make it out of the group stage and Bale failed to score again. After the World Cup, Bale announced his retirement from the national team, ending his 16-year national team career.
