The Netherlands drew 1-1 with Hungary in the 3rd round of the UEFA A League match on October 12, Beijing time. After the match, Dutch head coach Koeman was interviewed by the Dutch media and gave an in-depth review of the match.

Speaking about Van Dyke's sending off, Koeman said, "We do feel relieved when the team can play 1-1 with one man less. With only ten men, it was inevitable that the team's confidence would be affected. However, after the break, I was confident that we would score. We were always so close in the first half." He revealed that he was a bit pessimistic after Van Dyk's sending off, but the team did not give up and managed to equalize through a one-on-one confrontation. Although Hungary created some dangerous situations after that, the Dutch defense played well and eventually left the pitch with a relatively good feeling. Koeman expressed his dismay at Van Dyk's first yellow card and argued that that foul by his opponent should have been a red card as the opponent had absolutely no intention of kicking the ball. Van Dyk then received a second yellow card, which Koeman felt was unwise and that he should have continued his run to avoid a booking.

Commenting on the performance of their opponents, Hungary, Koeman said, "They played well in this game. Although they also committed eight or nine fouls in the opening period, which led to constant interruptions in the game. They didn't dare to play like that against Germany because they knew they would be in trouble. The middle of the field was blocked tight and they didn't put any pressure on the attacking side of the ball. 11 men stood behind the ball and defended, which created a lot of difficulties for us."

Koeman also pointed out the Dutch team's shortcomings in the game: "I think we could have done more on the left. Gakpo moved completely inside, which allowed the opponents' wing-backs to press van der Ven, resulting in us not being able to make effective breakthroughs. This is an area we need to do better. In the second half Gakpo started attacking from the wing, which made him more of a threat."

Koeman spoke highly of Dumfries' performance: "Dumfries definitely symbolizes the tenacity of this team. He saved us tonight. It was one of the few good set-piece chances we had, but he took it perfectly."
