Speaking at a press conference after England's match against Finland, interim boss Casley clarified his earlier comments, emphasizing that he had not ruled out the possibility of taking over as England's official boss.
Earlier, when talking about the selection of England's head coach, Cassley had said that the position should be held by a world-class coach. This comment once triggered speculation that Cassley may not be willing or consider himself unsuitable for the position. However, at the press conference, Cassley clearly denied the speculation.
I have definitely not ruled out the possibility of taking on the role of full England manager," said Carsley. As I've said before, it's very important that I do the job in hand to the best of my ability. It's an honor to be in this job and I feel fully trusted. It's a great job and the person who gets it will be well deserved."
He further explained, "I want to make it as clear as possible that my task is to lead the team in three training sessions. The point I am trying to make is that England boss is a world-class job and it will be one of the best jobs in soccer. So I think the person who gets the job should be of a very high standard."
Meanwhile, Casley also expressed his confidence in England's future: "Looking at the players we have, we have a real chance to go and win the title. That's the point I'm trying to make. Whoever ends up in that position, I'm confident they can lead the team to success."
