Chelsea FC have taken extremely strict precautions to ensure the fitness of their player Wesley Fofana by restricting him to just one game a week until the beginning of 2025, according to a new report from Team Newspaper.
As Fofana prepared for his comeback in May this year, Chelsea's medical team expressed great concern about the risk of a recurrence of his old injury. As a result, the club's doctors tailored a detailed recovery program for him during the summer training period. Although Fofana himself felt good about his recovery, the lengthy rehabilitation period made him suffer, which led to the possibility of a loan departure being mentioned.
Previously, Benatia, the advisor to the president of the Marseille club, had expressed interest in Fofana, but the offer did not go any further. Meanwhile, Chelsea, for their part, have not considered letting the player leave the club. With Maresca taking over at Chelsea, he showed particular favor to Fofana and strictly adhered to the precautionary measures put in place within the club - playing Fofana in only one game per week.
France's coaching staff had originally planned to call up Fofana in September, but this plan was abandoned at the insistence of Chelsea. In the end, Fofana was finally named in the France squad again for October's International Day, which was a positive sign for both him and Chelsea FC.
