At 2:45 a.m. Beijing time on October 16, Portugal will challenge Scotland away from home in the 4th round of the UEFA A League. Before the match, Portuguese international and Manchester United defender Dalot expressed his expectation of representing Portugal and his views on the upcoming match in an official interview with Manchester United.
Dalot began by reflecting on his journey for Portugal: "It's a great pride for me to have played 25 games for Portugal. It is a very special feeling to be able to wear the national team's colors. I am happy and satisfied with my soccer journey so far and hope to continue to represent our national team at the highest level of competition for many years to come and win many more victories for Portugal."
Speaking about his season at United, Dalot said, "I feel good and from a personal point of view this season has been positive for me. Coach Ten Hag asked me to try out different positions, which gave me and the coaching team more options and allowed me to get a fuller understanding of each area of the pitch. I think the experimentation was positive and it allowed me to become more well-rounded."
Dalot is looking forward to the upcoming match against Scotland: "The match against Scotland will be a different type of challenge. We expect the game to be tough because English soccer and the atmosphere in the stadium is always full of passion and energy. When the game is full of passion, we will enjoy the confrontation."
He further analyzed, "It's going to be a tough, physical match. We have already seen what they can do when we hosted Scotland (Portugal lost 1-2). In that game we suffered a major blow early in the game. Therefore, we have to take Scotland's performance seriously enough to be well prepared."
