Mallorca goalkeeper Greaves recently gave an interview sharing his career, injury experiences and idols in soccer.
Speaking about his Spanish improvement, Greif said, "I don't actually think my Spanish has improved a lot from April, but if you think so, then I'm happy." His humble demeanor shows the understatement and pragmatism of a professional player.
Looking back on his career, Greif was overwhelmed with emotion. He mentioned how happy he was to finally become the team's starting goalkeeper four years after coming to the team. However, he experienced quite a few bumps along the way. In his first season, he was unable to play due to injury and could only exist as an injured player. The second season also saw the arrival of Rajkovic, who put him under even more competitive pressure. He was unable to play for over a year due to a back injury, and during that time he was in so much pain that he even considered retiring. Fortunately, he eventually overcame the injury and returned to the field.
On whether he had considered leaving the club, Greaves said, "If you play two or three consecutive seasons on the bench, where can you go if you leave? Who would want a player like that? I haven't considered leaving, and in itself I wouldn't have any good options in my situation." He confessed that he had received offers from other teams, but was reassured by the fact that the Mallorcan club made it clear that they planned to keep him.
Speaking about his relationship with teammate Cuellar, Greif said he really enjoys spending time with Cuellar and considers him a very good teammate. The understanding and friendship between the two provides a strong guarantee for the team's stable play.
Last season's Copa del Rey was a major turning point for Greaves. He said it was the first time he felt he was noticed and had the opportunity to show what he could do. Although the loss in the final is still fresh in his mind, the two games undoubtedly changed the trajectory of his career and made him even more determined to fulfill his dream of playing soccer.
Talking about his idols, Greif said that he admires Crowe and Casillas. He also mentioned that on a sporting level, he also admires Kobe, James, and Nadal. Interestingly, Nadal, who is from Mallorca, sometimes comes to St. Moyes to watch matches, which gives Greif the opportunity to meet his idols face to face, which is an incredible and great thing for him.
