Egyptian professional footballer who currently plays for English Premier League club Liverpool, where he is also a member of the Egyptian national soccer team, playing as a winger and striker. Regarded as one of the best wingers in contemporary soccer and one of the greatest African players of all time, he is known for his accurate shooting, excellent ball handling and speed.
Salah has already represented the Egyptian national team at the 2011 World Youth Cup and the 2012 Olympics. He won the Swiss Super League title with Basel and the 2012 African Golden Boy Award, and the 2013 Swiss Super League Ballon d'Or, representing him as the Swiss Super League Player of the Season.
Salah was signed by English Premier League club Chelsea in the winter transfer window of the following year, following a bid by Liverpool FC, but was unable to secure his place on the pitch and was loaned out to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina in the following winter transfer window and then to Roma for the 2015/16 season. Salah was signed by Roma before the start of the 2016 season after an impressive Serie A campaign in which he scored a number of goals. In his two years with Roma, he scored 29 goals in 65 matches.
Salah was the first Egyptian-born player in Liverpool's history when he moved to Liverpool, who were the original contenders for him, for £36.9 million in the 2017/18 season. He is also credited with raising the profile of Liverpool in Egypt. Salah has been nicknamed the "fourth pyramid" in Egyptian hearts. Across the Arab world, he is often referred to as "the pride of the Arabs".
