Henry's charitable acts

Henry is a member of the UNICEF-World Football Association team. Along with other top soccer players, he appeared on a number of television programs during the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, which were watched by hundreds of millions of fans around the globe, where the players promoted soccer in the form of a game for the benefit of children.

Henry, who has suffered racial discrimination in the past, has often commented on the topic of "racism in soccer". One of Henry's more memorable incidents of racism was in 2004, when the Spanish national team was practicing. A Spanish TV crew caught Spanish coach Aragonés inspiring Reyes with a sarcastic remark about his Arsenal teammate Henry being a "stupid black man". The incident led to an uproar in the British media, which called for Aragonés to step down. Henry and Nike collaborated on the Stand Up Speak Up campaign, which aims to eliminate any controversy caused by racial discrimination, including the current incident. Later, in 2007, Time Magazine named him one of the "Heroes and Pioneers" in its 2007 Time 100.

Henry joined 45 other players in the recording of FIFA's "Live for Love United" single in 2002. The single is also used to promote AIDS research. Henry also supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
