Matip, 33, plays as a center back and has only played for Schalke 04 and Liverpool in his career.
Matip played a total of 258 matches for Schalke 04's first team, contributing 23 goals and 14 assists, winning one German Cup and one German Supercup with the team.
Matip joined Liverpool as a free agent in 2016 and has since made 201 appearances for Liverpool, contributing 11 goals and 6 assists, winning one Champions League, one UEFA Cup, one Premier League, one FA Cup, two League Cups and one Community Shield with the team.
In Matip's final season with Liverpool, he suffered a torn cruciate ligament and hasn't played since last December.
